I bought at a Strawberry Shortcake mini lamp at a thrift store for 4 dollars. She's the 1980's version.


I don't have a digital camera so I can't take a picture. It's not a lamp with a lamp shade. It's a plastic-like, bubbled type of material, and there's a little light bulb in the inside. She sits on a silver metal coil-of-sorts. It's not the modern Strawberry Shortcake, but the one I remembered as a child in the 80's. There's no tag other than voltage information. I have tried to look for pictures online, but only find night lights and regular lamps with lamp shades. This is not a lamp and not a night light. I hope someone can figure this out and possibly explain it better.
I am wondering if anyone has an idea about the year this lamp/light was made and/or has a link with a picture about it.

First paint the lamp and shade a color that you like. Try using a texture spray paint to make it look like weathered metal.

Then use a very small drill bit or punch to drill holes in a pattern on the shade. (Like a lincoln star or a heart) It'll be like an old time tin punch when you turn the light on.

What if you painted it to give it a "rusty" effect? That would be sort of rustic and country, if that is your decor. I think that would be pretty cool.

Enjoyable as sifting process must have been, I don't envy you task of whittling them down to only 10… Yes, Tayib Saleh is another whose work is worth unearthing; and not sure if you mentioned this or not, but Yahya Haqqi's Saint's Lamp is a modern classic in the relatively short history of the Arabic novel (released in mid 1940's when form attains its perfection).
